OK, so you have Blu-ray movies that you want to copy to regular DVD disc. Not a problem! Below I have listed my top five picks that can accomplish that for you. But first, permit me to tell you something about copying Blu-ray movies. This is some "good-to-know" stuff.
Why Do You NOT Want To Copy Blu-ray Movies To Blank Blu-ray Discs?
First of all, they are very expensive. A single 25GB single-layered blank Blu-ray disc suitable for copying Blu-ray movies can cost you about $1.75 each! A single 50GB dual-layered blank Blu-ray disc can cost you $9.00 each! Do you really want to take a chance on a Blu-ray copy session going wrong and the disc is no longer usable?
While it is very possible to copy a Blu-ray movie to a blank Blu-ray disc, there is more data on them. Regular single-layered DVD-5s are 4.7GB in size and the regular DVD-9 dual-layered DVDs are 8.5GB in size. Depending on your computer resources (CPU speed, RAM, and speed of your DVD burner), it can take 30-60 minutes to copy a regular DVD movie from start to finish.
Blu-ray movies on the other hand are larger in size than the regular DVD movies. As I showed you above, they have a capacity of 25GB to 50GB. So, copying Blu-ray movies to blank Blu-ray discs will take considerably longer. Not only that, the transcoding scheme of Blu-ray movies are not the same as that of regular DVD movies. There is more going on when copying Blu-ray movies to blank Blu-ray discs.
I better and cheaper option is to either rip the Blu-ray movie to your hard drive and view it from your hard drive using software that can play the ripped blu-ray movie; or copy the Blu-ray movie to regular DVDs.
The downside to ripping Blu-ray movies to your hard drive for viewing is that they consume a lot of your hard drive space. Let's say that you have 10 Blu-ray movies, each with 30GB of data. If you ripped all 10 to your hard drive, you have consumed 300GB of hard drive space! If you have a 320GB hard drive, that leaves you with only 20GB of free space.
Most Blu-ray movies are copy-protected; meaning that they have been encoded to restrict access to copying them. The encoding scheme used is called AACS or Advanced Access Content System. Not to worry, the software presented below can get around AACS and copy your Blu-ray movies.

The folks over at DVDFab boasts that their's is the first software in it's class able to convert Blu-ray movies to DVD and to be able to view them in any DVD player. That might be true, I honestly do not know. What I do know is that the software works very well. I was able to easily convert Blu-ray movies to either single-layered 4.7GB blank DVD-5s or dual-layered 8.5GB DVD-9 discs.
The software can remove all known copy protections appearing on Blu-ray movies.

Out of all of the Blu-ray to DVD software mentioned, it has the coolest and most easiest to use user interface. It contains built-in technology that ensures a clean burn to DVD disc. You will, however, need a third-party decrypter like Blu-Ray/HD DVD Copy Helper (Free) or AnyDVD to decrypted encrypted Blu-ray movies.
You can copy Blu-ray movies to either DVD-5 or DVD-9 blank discs. You can either have the software compress the Blu-ray movie down in size to fit onto a DVD-R/RW or onto two DVD-5 discs.
You can also copy Blu-ray movies to AVCHD.
I have to concede that this the easiest one to use and has the simplest user interface out of all of the Blu-ray copy programs reviewed here thus far. And, I reassure you that if I come across any easier to use, I will post it here on this page.
But does it work? Absolutely! I could have easily ranked this one number one but I didn't only cause it does not have a large feature set. But that is OK because simplicity is what many of you want; not a who lot of bells and whistles.
