Split MPEG Video

Download and Install The Following Tools Now

  • JASP Version 1.6

  • 7-Zip (In case you do not have an unzip program, install and use this program to unzip a file)

Purpose

Split MPEG Video Files or save just a small portion of a video and discard unwanted scenes from a video.

Procedure

  1. Start the JASP program. Figure 1

  1. Click on the Browse button and select the MPEG file you wish to split. Take note of the file size. In the example below the MPEG file size is 611.73KB. Figure 2

  1. Click on the Customize button. Figure 3

  1. Click on the Split Sizes tab, enter the size you want your file split to in the Split Size box and click the Add button. (e.g. If your video file is 611.73 KB then this is 611730 Bytes. To split the video in half, you must enter a value one-half of this figure. In this example, you must enter a value of 314000.)  Figure 4

  1. Pull down and select the new size. (In this example, it 306.64 KB.) Click ApplyFigure 5

  1. You will be taken back out to the main Control Panel. Pull down and make sure your Split Size is selected and then click the Split button. Figure 6

  1. Once the process is complete, JASP will generate a dialog window shown in Figure 7. You will have two  files in the destination folder you specified. Figure  7

  1. The two files will have a *.jasp extension on them. You MUST change the extension to *.mpg. Figure 8

  1. That's it! You are done.
