I am going to toss out some expressions you may have heard in DVD-Sphere: DVD Burning, DVD Copying, and DVD Movie Creation.
Well, two of these expressions mean the same thing: DVD Burning and DVD Movie Creation. DVD Copying is not the same thing. DVD Copying is copying a DVD movie to a blank DVD disc. Click here for software that does that.
DVD Movie Creation is as the name implies, you are creating DVD movies by "burning" video files to the blank DVD. That DVD, in turn, can be played in a DVD player.
Just "copying" video files to a blank DVD does not allow you to play them in a DVD player like a regular DVD movie. Copying video files to a blank DVD is nothing but archiving them on the DVD for storage.
Burning A Video File To DVD Involves A Process
When you wish to take video files from your digital camera or those you download from the Internet and create playable DVDs from them, those video files must be changed or prepared into a format so that they can be etched or burned to a blank DVD. That changing or conversion process is called transcoding and it is done by software.
Once the video file has been transcoded, it can then be burned to a blank DVD.
DVD Movie Creation and DVD Burning Are The Same Thing
Below are the top three software products that can take existing video files and burn them to blank DVD, thus creating your own DVD movies.
#1 ConvertXToDVD is my absolute number one choice when it comes to burning video files to DVD in order to create DVD movies. Here is how I personally use it: I take a lot of videos with my video cameras. Well, I download those videos off of my cameras on to my computer. Then, I import them into ConvertXToDVD, insert a blank DVD disc and click a START button. The software automatically transcodes the video and burns it to DVD, thus creating a DVD playable in any DVD player and watch on your TV.
While what I just described is a general overview of what it can do, it does a whole lot more. As you know there are many many video formats such as avi, divx, mpg, mkv, wmv, xvid, avs,dvr-ms, wmr, evo, m2ts, mts, flv, swf, dat, ifo, m2p, m4v, mpeg, mpg, ps, tod, ts, vob, 3gp, m4a, mov, mp4, nsv, ogg, ogm, ram, rm, rmv, rmvb, rv, asf, wm, and wmv. Well, ConvertXToDVD can burn any of these to DVD and create a DVD movie.
But there is more: There are many audio formats that ac3, dts, mp3, wav, wma, flac, mka, ape, mp1, mp2, mpa, mpga, mpu MPEG-4 Audio, aac, m4a, ma4, mpc,ogg, ra, ram, rm, aif, wav, wave, and au and burn them to DVD as well.
You can also create ISO image files from your video files store them on your hard drive.
With ConvertXToDVD to can include subtitles with different color and fonts, create or import your own DVD covers.

#2 1Click DVD Movie by LG Software Innovations is up next and it gets our number two vote. It is not shabby at all. It does not have all of the features of ConvertXToDVD, but accomplished the same thing: It can take almost all video file formats and burn them to DVD, thus creating playable DVD movies.
It is actually easier to use than ConvertXToDVD in that you simply select your video file and click START to create the DVD movie. It is automatic and done literally with one click of a button.
By comparison, the one thing I noticed with 1Click DVD Movie is that it is not as fast as ConvertXtoDVD but this is a relative fast. It is still fast, but not as fast. If I were to take an educated guess, 1Click DVD Movie would take approximately 10 extra minutes to do what ConvertXToDVD would do with the same sized video file.
With 1Click DVD Movie, I can actually preview the video file in real time as it is being transcoded. This lets me test the menus before I burn the file to DVD and it lets me see what it will look like when it is on DVD.
The software can burn to any type of DVD such as DVD +/-R, DVD +/-RW, or DVD +/-DL.
The software runs on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.

#3 Roxio Creator 2012 is my last and final choice. It is a relatively new product and a very nice one. It does a lot of stuff. It is could be overkill for some because it has so many features. But concerning the creation of "Hollywood-style" DVDs, it can do it. It can take any existing video file that you have and burn it to a DVD so that it is playable in your DVD player.
If you have a TiVo box and it is getting full, this software will let you archive your TiVo content to DVD disc so that you can free up your valuable hard drive space. You can remove the commercials from your recorded video before burning them to DVD or converting the video to iPod, iPad, Android, Blackberry, etc.
If you are a YouTuber and like to watch videos on YouTube or Viddler, you can capture the video and save them to your computer, watch it from your computer, convert it to one of the many mobile device formats such as iPod, iPad, or iPhone, or burn them to DVD.
Roxio Creator 2012 is a larger than the previous two programs because it does a whole lot more than just burn DVDs or create DVD movies. Many of you might want something simpler.
You can burn HD Blu Ray discs as well as 3D but only in the Pro version!
The software can burn to any type of DVD such as Blu-ray, DVD +/-R, DVD +/-RW, or DVD +/-DL.
The software runs on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.
